Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes Bedroom Blackout's Panels different from others on the market?
Bedroom Blackout panels are custom made to fit inside your window frame, creating a secure seal that eliminates the light gaps commonly left by traditional curtains and blinds.
Each panel combines a lightweight aluminium frame with soft foam edges, plus total blackout fabric designed to last — white on the outside to help reflect sunlight and black on the inside for complete darkness.
The result is a high-quality, removable blackout solution that can easily be put in and taken out in seconds, creating complete darkness day or night.
- Do your Blackout Panels block out all light?
Yes. When properly installed, Bedroom Blackout window panels are designed to block 100% of external light coming through the window, creating complete darkness with no light gaps around the edges of the window frame.
- How easy are Bedroom Blackout panels to put in and take out?
Bedroom Blackout panels are designed to be quick and easy to use. They fit directly into your window recess and can be put in or taken out in seconds.
- Can I remove the Panels if I need to?
Yes. Bedroom Blackout panels are completely removable and can be installed or taken out in seconds. There’s no drilling, tools or permanent fittings required, making them ideal for renters, shift workers, baby rooms, or anyone who only needs blackout at certain times.
- Do you offer custom sizes for different window types?
Yes. Every Bedroom Blackout panel is custom made to the measurements of your window recess, helping create a snug fit with no light gaps when properly installed. Our standard panels are available up to 1500mm high × 1800mm wide. If you have a larger or unusual window, contact us before ordering and we can let you know what may be possible.
- How do I measure my windows for your Panels?
It’s easy. Simply measure the inside of your window recess in millimetres — the width, height and recess depth. Measure from the actual window frame and keep your tape measure straight for the most accurate fit. If you have a roller blind or other fitting, measure behind it from the window frame itself.

- What materials are your Panels made from?
Our panels are made from high-quality aluminium extrusion, soft furnished foam and total blackout fabric designed to last. Together, these materials help create a snug fit that blocks external light coming through the window. The panels may also provide an extra barrier against daytime heat and help dampen outside noise.
- Can your Panels help reduce noise and improve insulation?
Bedroom Blackout panels are made with total blackout fabric, soft furnished foam and a lightweight aluminium frame. Together, these materials create an extra barrier at the window that may help reduce daytime heat and dampen some outside noise.
For customers wanting additional noise reduction, we also offer a Sound Reduction option with an extra layer of foam to help further dampen outside noise. Bedroom Blackout panels are designed primarily to block external light and are not a soundproofing product.
- Are your Panels suitable for shift workers and parents with young children?
Yes. Bedroom Blackout panels are ideal for shift workers, babies and young children, and anyone who needs to sleep during daylight hours. By creating a dark room at any time of day, they can help make daytime naps, early bedtimes and post-shift sleep much easier.
- What’s the difference between Bedroom Blackout panels and blackout blinds?
Bedroom Blackout panels are removable blackout window panels that fit directly into your window recess — with no drilling, no permanent fittings and no changes to your window. That makes them especially suitable for rental homes and anyone who wants a blackout solution they can easily put in and take out as needed.
Some blackout blinds can still allow light to enter around the edges of the window. Bedroom Blackout panels are custom made to your window measurements to help create a snug, light-tight fit and block 100% of external window light when properly installed.
